About

It all started when…

A small team of women opened up a tiny space in their home to teach sewing skills to three young women who had no work, no education, and no hope for the future. This small act grew and more students were welcomed. Sifa moved from a small space in a home, to a garage, to a tiny home with the ceiling falling down around us, to now a beautiful and huge training center.

Sifa brings in 25 students every year to provide them with training in sewing, design, screen printing, fabric dying, cooking, cake baking, budgeting, leather craft, entrepreneurship, self-defense, and more.

When students graduate, they are given their sewing machine and sent out to start their own local businesses. Many students open shops as teams with their classmates. Not only that, we have many students who use their small businesses as a center to teach and train women in their community in sewing skills and sharing the gospel.

But it doesn’t stop there! Every year we also help teams of Tanzanian women launch their own Sifa Centers in communities all throughout Tanzania. It’s a coalition - a collective! It’s Sifa Collective!
